Five goals and three assists. Of Flamengo's 13 goals against Kabuscrop, Petkovic had a hand in eight. The opposing team was weak, scoring only one goal, but that doesn't take away from the Serbian star. The match was part of the first round of the 7-a-side Club World Cup, held at the Sambadrome in Rio de Janeiro.
"It was a debut that met expectations. Flamengo is technically better than the Angolan team. We're prepared, and they have no experience in 7-a-side football. Petkovic positioned himself very well and, once again, showed his genius on the field. It's no surprise he scored five goals. I'm happy with his commitment. Few players have that attitude," said José Moraes, coach of the Rubro-Negro.
With the victory, Flamengo took the lead in Group A of the competition. They have three points, just like Fluminense, but with a better balance than their Rio de Janeiro rival. Flamengo will return to the field on Thursday night (July 11.07) to face Atlético de Madrid.
