A standout player for Flamengo's 2009 Brazilian Championship title, midfielder Petkovic reiterated that he hasn't set a date to retire. At 37, the player showed throughout the season that he can still be decisive on the field. He also stated that he will continue his career primarily to bring joy to the red-and-blacks.

"It would be a disservice to the fans. I'm staying at Flamengo. And I'm not even setting a time limit. I'll play as long as I can be one of the best," the midfielder said in an interview with Portuguese newspaper 'O Jogo'.

Before the Brasileirão, the Serbian arrived at Gávea under suspicion from many at the club and a good portion of the fans. Gradually, he earned his place in the starting lineup and began sharing the lead role with top scorer Adriano. Despite the controversy surrounding his signing, he explains that he always believed in his football.

- It was a rather turbulent return. I bet on myself by returning, risking the idolatry I already had, but, with a lot of resilience, everything ended wonderfully.

Despite enjoying a great career, Petkovic believes he no longer has a place on the Serbian national team. But he calls for his country's recognition with a celebratory match.

"At 37 years old, and without playing in qualifying, it wouldn't be fair to ask for a World Cup call-up. But I think I deserve a friendly match after the World Cup."

With a 'globalized' heart, Pet reveals that he will support at least four teams in the 2010 World Cup. And, of course, Brazil is among them.
 
- I support Serbia and Brazil, but also Spain, because one of my daughters was born there, and Italy, where the other was born - concluded the red-black idol.
