The "millennium boom" has passed, and Flamengo reaches the end of the first decade of the 21st century even more successful. From 2001 to 2010, the Red-Black team collected numerous achievements and titles that enrich its history. Not only in football, but also in Olympic sports. These were state, national, and continental achievements that will be immortalized in the history of Brazil's most beloved club and, of course, in the memory of the entire Red-Black Nation.
On the field, the titles were numerous: in Rio, total dominance. Five State Championships in ten years, in addition to assuming the title of most successful in the history of Rio de Janeiro football, with 31 trophies. Among these achievements, two three-time championships, one that began in 1999 and ended in 2001, and from 2007 to 2009. In Brazil, two titles: the 2006 Copa do Brasil and the 2009 Brasileirão, as well as two runner-up finishes in the Copa do Brasil, in 2003 and 2004, and the 2001 Champions Cup. The club also competed in the Copa Libertadores again, in 2002, 2007, and 2008.
Flamengo has signed some great players over the past ten years. Among them are Adriano, Petkovic, Vagner Love, Bruno, Fabio Luciano, Ronaldo Angelim, Leonardo Moura, Edílson, Juninho Paulista, Gamarra, Liedson, Felipe, Fernando Baiano, Renato, Obina, and Juan. It has also revealed names such as Julio Cesar, Juan, Reinaldo, Felipe Melo, Athirson, Jônatas, Renato Augusto, Ibson, Airton, and Diego Maurício.
With so many glories, this decade, in terms of achievements, was second only to the Golden Generation of the 80s, which won four Brazilian Championships, the Libertadores, the World Cup, and two Carioca Championships. The numbers from the 90s closely resemble those of the 2000s. There were four state championships, a Brazilian Championship, and a Brazilian Cup, in addition to the Mercosur Cup and the South American Gold Cup.
Olympic Sports - On the court, the team won two Carioca Futsal Championships and became the biggest Brazilian basketball powerhouse, winning seven State Championships, six of them consecutively, two National Championships, and one South American Championship. Stars like Oscar Schmidt and Marcelinho, two icons of the Brazilian national team, have donned the red-and-black jersey.
The Rubro-Negro team also won the Brazilian women's volleyball championship, led by two dedicated Rubro-Negro members, Virna and Leila. In the sport that spawned it, the Rubro-Negro team was also victorious, winning the Rio de Janeiro Rowing Championship six times. In gymnastics, Diego Hypólito, Danielle Hypólito, and Jade Barbosa increasingly excelled.
Red and black also reigned supreme in the pool. They won seven Brazilian titles and one South American title in synchronized swimming. The club also won five Rio de Janeiro championships, one Brazilian Trophy, and two José Finkel Trophy titles in swimming. In 2010, the Auburn Trio, consisting of Cesar Cielo, Henrique Barbosa, and Nicholas dos Santos, restored the club's strong swimming performance. In water polo, they achieved new victories, including the Olga Pinciroli Trophy, a 19-year feat.
