The only Brazilian to have six Brazilian Championship titles under his belt, one as a coach and five as a player, Flamengo coach Andrade will be honored this Tuesday (15/12) at the Rio de Janeiro City Council, where he will receive the Pedro Ernesto Medal Set.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the City Council Chambers, and will be open to the public at Praça Floriano, s/nº - Cinelândia. The initiative for the tribute was initiated by Councilwoman Clarissa Garotinho (PR).
The Pedro Ernesto Medal is the most important honor in the city of Rio de Janeiro, awarded by the City Council to those who stand out most in society.
According to the justification presented by Clarissa Garotinho to request the tribute, "Andrade comes from a generation of renowned players from the Flamengo Club such as Adílio, Nunes, Leandro, Junior and Zico and won important titles such as the Copa Libertadores da América and the Interclub World Cup in Tokyo."
Andrade, she says, exceeded all expectations, overcame prejudices, and earned his place. "Andrade is a winner. He succeeded as a player and as a coach. Today, he transcends the boundaries of Gávea and represents the true spirit of Rio de Janeiro football," the councilwoman praised.
At the entrance to the Chamber will be the musicians of Charanga do Flamengo and the club's official mascots, Uruba and Urubinha.
