Renovation of the Togo Soares Gymnasium enters the final stretch
The space will be of international standard, but the club saved 300 thousand reais.

Construction on the Togo Renan Soares (Kanela) gymnasium has entered its final phase. Flamengo's volleyball and futsal "home" has undergone renovations thanks to a partnership with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), which covered the $90 cost of replacing the flooring. The gymnasium has been completely renovated and now only awaits the completion of the athletes' locker rooms.
As it was renovated by employees at the Gávea headquarters, Flamengo saved R$300, only needing to pay for the materials needed for the renovation.
Floating parquet floors based on international volleyball and futsal standards were installed on the court, in addition to the complete restoration of the gymnasium tiles.
"This is the first major renovation we've undertaken with investment from the North American Olympic Committee, the result of the unprecedented partnership we signed in December of last year. We'll welcome the world's greatest power to our home for the 2016 Games, and Gávea will be ready for it," said President Patricia Amorim.
For Cacau Cotta, vice president of administration and Fla-Gávea, investing in the gymnasium responsible for hosting futsal activities is also investing in the future of professional football.
"Investing in a new futsal facility at the club also gives opportunities to young players just starting out. Many athletes and idols from past generations came from Flamengo's futsal. Mattheus, Diego Maurício, Adriano, the eternal Emperor, and Adílio are just a few names who came from Flamengo's futsal," he declared.
