1) TICKET SALES.
Ticket sales went smoothly. All tickets for the Nestlé promotion sold out. The paying audience was 41.000, and the attendees were 47.000.
2) PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE STADIUM.
There were no problems in this regard. Access to the stands and lower seats was smooth. "With 20 minutes to go before kickoff, there was a considerable increase in fans, especially on Maracanã Avenue. There was a considerable number of police officers on the streets directing drivers" (information from the Fim de Jogo website).
3) ENTRY TO THE STADIUM.
We received complaints from a fan about the difficulty in accessing special seating, resulting in long lines at the stadium entrance. According to him, the turnstiles stopped working due to the rain, and Suderj employees had to check tickets, which caused delays in fan entry.
4) PUBLIC.
We didn't observe any significant incidents. When contacted by the JECRIM chief, he reported that there were only four seizures of scalpers and one of fraud. There were no complaints of theft. We had the opportunity to meet Mr. Reginaldo Pestana, JECRIM coordinator, who very helpfully explained the JECRIM's activities and informed us that JECRIM will soon have a space to offer good behavior courses for fans suspended for misconduct. Therefore, on match days, suspended fans will be required to attend these courses. This measure will facilitate attendance control. The attendance was 41.000 paying fans and 47.000 in attendance.
5) ORGANIZED FANS.
Once again, the fans put on a beautiful show, supporting the team throughout and, what we consider the most positive aspect, singing songs that celebrate the club (including some beautiful new songs), leaving aside offensive or self-promotional songs. It is regrettable that some Raça fans repeatedly attacked Urubuzada fans. We were told that a couple had their Urubuzada shirts ripped while they were at Raça, and others were attacked as they were leaving the stadium. On Maracanã Avenue, there was a fight involving a small group of Flamengo fans. "What was impressive was their boldness, as the brawlers ignored the presence of the police, who were trying to break up the fight. The police had to act more firmly, and even then it was difficult, but we didn't hear of anything serious" (text taken from the Fim de Jogo website). We believe that the positioning of the visitors in the lower seats should be below the neutral stands (on the right side of the radio booths), to avoid any hostile attitude from the stands. The positioning of the Jovem in the green seats to the right of the radio booths provided greater peace of mind for the fans positioned on the left.
6) MAIN OCCURRENCES.
There were no occurrences worthy of record.
7) PARKING.
We emphasize again that parking lot access points should be better signposted. Many drivers wanted to enter through gate 16, which currently serves gate 15, but in reality should have gone to gate 17, which is the paid gate. Major traffic jams occur due to a lack of screening and guidance for drivers. The problem of cars being locked by others in parking lot 17 persists. There are always more cars than the parking lot can accommodate.
8)TRAFFIC IN THE SURROUNDING AREA.
"Really, you have to be in a good mood after the game to face the traffic jam. The traffic is very chaotic around here, and sometimes it's hard to tell if the honking is in celebration of Flamengo's victory or if it's just the confusion. But... it doesn't matter." 9) GEASE ACTIONS.
We contacted the JECRIM coordinator (Mr. Reginaldo Pestana) and reiterated the club's interest, through GEASE, in providing all necessary support for the smooth operation of this important organization and establishing a channel for relationship and cooperation between the two. JECRIM's interest proved to be mutual.
Through Fernando Sihman (we would like to thank him for his collaboration and patience), we had a fruitful meeting with SUDERJ's operations manager, Mr. Pedrosa, who showed us how the stadium's electronic display works. GEASE aims to leverage this important means of communication to convey its messages. We hope to use this system later this year.
We will contact Maj. Marcelo to request measures to end the fights between the “organized” groups, outside the stands and at the end of the games.
We will contact those responsible at SUDERJ to report the problem that occurred at the turnstiles at gate 18 and find out what can be done to prevent it from happening again.
