About
"Ipanema, Side B" narrates the daily lives of nearly 200 characters—men and women, young and old, white and black, rich and poor—who lived between the 60s and 80s, when the neighborhood began to undergo irreversible changes caused by real estate speculation. They are all unknown to the general public, their names never recorded in previous works on the subject—hence the "Side B" in the title. The author began noticing them as a boy, when Ipanema still had the feel of a small town. He decided to rescue them for posterity. After all, they all left behind many stories, sometimes happy, sometimes sad, sometimes dramatic, some almost implausible, which will also contribute to the neighborhood's preservation of its memory and identity.
