When you buy your brick from the "Rubro-Negro Para Sempre" project, fans will be not only writing their name in Flamengo's history, they'll also be helping the club realize a long-held dream: seeing construction on the training center begin. For fans who have followed the "Ninho do Vulture" from the beginning, a clarification is in order: there was, indeed, a project for the training center, but it was stalled and had several pending issues, all of which have now been resolved by the current board.
Among the challenges facing the construction of the training center were several missing authorizations from the relevant agencies. Finally, last month, Flamengo managed to comply with all the legal requirements necessary to obtain the long-awaited construction permit from the Rio de Janeiro City Hall.
"The licensing process was truly abandoned. Not only did we fulfill the numerous long-standing issues, but we also had to comply with new legislation. I'd like to take this opportunity to give a special thanks to all the heritage staff who dedicated themselves immensely to this endeavor. Now, the issue is merely bureaucratic. I believe that we'll have the licenses issued by November, giving us the opportunity to make this dream a reality," said Flamengo's vice president of heritage, Alexandre Wrobel.
The mechanism for the nation's contribution to the construction of the training center is simple. Fans will purchase a brick with their name on it for R$250,00 (payable in up to 5 installments on a credit card), and the net proceeds will go directly to the construction of Ninho do Urubu. But the board doesn't want to stop there. Everyone at Flamengo expects to count on fans to contribute to other campaigns to be launched in the future.
"We'll have a street running through the land, which will be called "Alameda da Nação," where one of the walls of the "Rubro-Negro Para Sempre" campaign will be located. This way, fans who buy a brick will be able to visit the training center, take a photo with their name engraved on the wall, and effectively participate in this dream," explained Wrobel, making a point of revealing the motto throughout the project.
"We will work with complete and absolute transparency. The financial statements, updated with all revenues and expenses, will be available on the official Flamengo website. Furthermore, we will install cameras within the construction site that will allow us to monitor the work in real time. Flamengo fans will be our inspectors," he concluded.
