Wearing Flamengo's number 11 jersey, Lico was immortalized, along with the entire "golden squad," for winning the 1981 World Cup. And the joy of reaching the top with Brazil's most beloved team never left the heart of this Santa Catarina native, from tiny Imbituba. Thirty years after the title, he still remembers, as if it were yesterday, the memorable moments he experienced in Japan.

Lico almost found the net for Liverpool, but defender Thompson prevented the number 11 from scoring. It didn't matter, as Adílio then pushed the ball into the net. And, regardless of whether he left his mark, the winger managed to leave his mark on Flamengo's history.

"When the final whistle blew, I felt like I had fulfilled a dream. I had won a very important title with a big team. My entire journey came to mind, from a small town with less than 15 inhabitants to conquering the world with Flamengo," Lico explained.

And the reputation Brazilians have for not valuing the past and their idols doesn't apply to the nation. Lico can attest to this in 30 years of tributes.

"I can't imagine how good it feels to receive this affection, to feel this. It's something that only God can explain. There's no greater gift for me than to be remembered. It's very nice. And it's also good for this current group to know what it's like to defend Flamengo," said the former number 11.

Delving deeper into his memory, exploring the emotions of these 30 years, Lico was still able to define in one word what the 1981 World Cup-winning Flamengo team was like. "Fantastic."

Regarding the achievement, the greatest of his career, it couldn't be any different. The former Flamengo winger described it as "very remarkable."
