The Rio de Janeiro City Council voted yesterday (02/Oct) in final discussion, bill number 1121/2007, authored by councilwoman Patricia Amorim, which creates the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo week.

Approved unanimously by Rio de Janeiro's councilors, the project now awaits Mayor César Maia's promulgation.

If enacted, Flamengo Week will be celebrated during the week of November 17th, the club's anniversary. According to Patricia Amorim, the bill is justified, among other reasons, by the fact that Flamengo has the largest fan base in the world. The parliamentarian also notes that the club's headquarters in Gávea has already become a landmark in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
