This month, in the match against Avaí on the 10th, Léo Moura took the field wearing a special jersey: his number 2, but with a patch alluding to his 300 appearances for Flamengo. The jersey, made exclusively for the club's current captain, has not been and will not be sold. However, Flamengo's official website and marketing department gifted 10 lucky winners with this collector's item, undoubtedly a true collector's item.
Fans had to demonstrate, by answering a few questions and using a catchy phrase, that they were truly a Léo Moura fan to be eligible for the award. Many fans showed their admiration for the right-back, but only 10 took home the jersey. Check out the names of the winners below.
Brunna Araes Lopes Vieira (CRN 44068)
"Léo Moura: Indescribable skill of a classic full-back, indisputable. With each brilliant move, the certainty of passionate emotion, with a bomb from outside the box or the sweetness of a masterful free kick goal! (Reference to the goals against U. Católica in the Libertadores and against Náutico, in 2010 and 2008)"
Victor Hugo de Sousa Mendonça (CRN 95801)
"In the 46th minute of the second half, in the 2008 Guanabara Cup final, after a pass from number 2, Tardelli shoots. The Nation falls silent. The net shakes. The game, which was tied, turns and Maracanã becomes a mixture of joy and emotion. Léo Moura kneels and cries, thus transmitting the feelings of the entire Nation."
Carlos Eduardo Santos (CRN 95633)
"The inspiration of playing at the Azteca stadium where the 1970 team won the third championship led our Léo to score a fantastic lob over América's goalkeeper Ochoa from Mexico, hitting the same post that was so important for us Brazilians."
Victor Badú (CRN 95539)
"Final of the 2007 Carioca Championship. Flamengo 2(4) x 2(2) Botafogo, decision on penalties where Léo Moura took the ball with all the care, gave a kiss and scored for Mengão! Flamengo Champion of the 2007 Carioca Championship!"
Felippe Junqueira (CRN 95561)
"Despite fulfilling a childhood dream by wearing the sacred mantle and becoming a six-time champion with Flamengo, I think his most memorable moment was when he entered the field with Zico's grandson, reciprocating the gesture and affection that Galinho himself had when entering the field with Léo Moura, still a child."
Juliana dos Anjos Dantas (CRN 95478)
"It was on May 3, 2009, when Léo Moura, after being three-time Rio de Janeiro champion, bursting into tears, said in an interview: "I entered Flamengo's history, three times champion in a row." Showing all the emotion upon realizing that from then on he would be immortalized in the history of the biggest club in Brazil."
Diego Peralta (CRN 6170)
"A cry held back for 17 years. A cry of love for Flamengo. A cry of childhood passion. Léo Moura hugging Adriano, crying with the red and black flag and shouting "SIX-TIME CHAMPION!" The cry of a warrior who fought and fell. But believed and trusted. Each warrior of Sparta is a game of the Warrior of Gávea!"
Allan Cutrim Gomes (CRN 95319)
"There were several memorable moments for this Flamengo idol throughout these 300 games, but two stand out for the moment of the match: the debut of this year's Libertadores when he scored a goal from a free kick, and the other was in Adriano's debut, as he dreamed of playing alongside the Emperor. Congratulations Captain Léo!"
Dimas (CRN 45026)
"It was when, on 24.02.2010, weeks after having overcome a tumor, thank God benign, Moicano scored a great goal from a free kick, "a la Zico", in a packed Maraca, against Universidad Católica of Chile, in the Libertadores, cheering a lot and making the Biggest Fanbase in the World explode with joy... Hail Moicano!!!"
Gabriel Lage Rocha (CRN 95280)
"One moment of Léo's that still sends shivers down my spine was the penalty goal he scored against Corinthians, which sealed our lead with one round remaining in the championship. His emotion after scoring the goal, in a "Phew, we did it" style, was simply unforgettable."
