While watching its rivals go shopping, Flamengo, which only signed two players—defender Douglas and midfielder Willians, both formerly of Santo André—will work in 2009 with virtually the same squad that finished last season. Of the starters, only midfielder Jaílton left.

PLAYERS' SITUATION

Bruno

To keep Bruno, Flamengo purchased 80% of his economic rights for around 2,5 million euros (around R$8 million). The goalkeeper's contract runs until December 2012.

Leo Moura

At the end of 2007, Flamengo adjusted his salary and doubled his release clause to €6 million (R$19 million). The player himself considers his contract with Flamengo to be European-level.

Fabio Luciano

He's likely to postpone his dream of playing in the United States to stay another year in Gávea. He has an offer to become a Flamengo director upon his retirement.

Ronaldo Angelim

Having established himself at the club, he has already stated that the pinnacle of his career was Flamengo. His contract runs until the end of 2009.

Juan

Last year, Flamengo acquired an additional 25% of the club's economic rights and now owns 75%. It increased the release clause to €5 million (approximately R$16 million), in addition to a salary increase of around 30%, and the contract's expiration date was December 2010.

Airton

Flamengo acquired 50% of the midfielder's economic rights from Nova Iguaçu. His contract runs until 2013.

Bull

He's been with Flamengo since early 2006 and has had no offers to leave. His contract runs until the end of 2010.

Ibson

His contract ends in mid-2009. In 2008, Flamengo secured a loan renewal, paying €600 (R$1,9 million). Porto no longer intends to negotiate the midfielder on loan.

Kleberson

Flamengo brought the midfielder by paying 1,25 million euros (around R$ 4 million) to Besiktas (TUR) to keep the midfielder for five years.

Marcelinho Paraíba

He arrived in August of this year and has a contract with Flamengo until December 2010.

When he renewed with Flamengo until the end of 2010, his release clause remained at around US$5 million (approximately R$11 million).
