"Brazil's Most Beloved Comics", by Ziraldo
Ziraldo's new book, 112 pages long, is entirely dedicated to Flamengo. "Brazil's Most Beloved in Comics," the book's title, tells the story of the club's founding, the formation of its first soccer team, the origins of its rivalry with Fluminense, the stories of its major titles, and other moments in Flamengo's history.
Among the many stories in the book, Ziraldo – one of the best-known authors in the children's publishing market, with works such as "Menino Maluquinho" – tells how he himself came into contact with the Rio de Janeiro team in Caratinga (MG), where he was born: through the radio waves.
Released by Editora Globo in September during the Book Biennial, the book shows that the passion for the red and black colors runs in the family, passed down from father to son, grandmother to granddaughter. As in the story where a family doesn't mind missing precious minutes of a game to watch it with their sick grandfather.
The stories illustrated by Ziraldo, in a larger format than normal books (19,0 x 27,5 cm), show situations common to many Brazilians who are passionate about Flamengo and who celebrate each achievement of Brazil's most beloved club.
The book has a suggested price of R$25,00 and can be found in the country's main bookstores and even at newsstands.
