The Bolinhas Cup is returned to Caixa Econômica Federal
Flamengo continues to fight for the trophy it won on the field

The Bolinhas Cup returned to the hands of Caixa Econômica Federal this Friday (04.05). Complying with a court order, São Paulo handed the trophy over to its creator. The feat is yet another victory for Flamengo, after all, Flamengo was the first Brazilian club to win five Brazilian championships and, therefore, would be the rightful owner of the award.
In October 2011, the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice ruled, by 2 votes to 1, that São Paulo would lose the "maintenance of possession" of the Taça de Bolinhas.
Three months earlier, Flamengo went to FIFA to make a formal complaint against the actions of Sport Recife, which filed an appeal with the 10th Federal Court of Pernambuco against the decision of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to recognize what everyone already knows: the Rio de Janeiro Red-Black team is the 1987 Brazilian champion.
In January of this year, the 18th Civil Chamber of Rio de Janeiro ruled against an appeal filed by São Paulo against the ruling that had ordered the trophy to be returned to Caixa Econômica Federal. In February, Flamengo's lawyers were informed that São Paulo had been ordered to return the Taça das Bolinhas to Caixa Econômica Federal, a decision that only occurred this Friday.
A recent ruling from the 50th Civil Court of Rio de Janeiro ordered the trophy to be removed from São Paulo's headquarters and taken to Caixa Econômica Federal at any cost. The ruling is intended to enforce a precautionary measure requiring the return of the Taça das Bolinhas, which the São Paulo club had previously failed to comply with.
