One day after the news that it could be without Juan for Sunday's Campeonato Carioca final against Botafogo, Flamengo can breathe a sigh of relief. This Thursday, the president of the Sports Justice Court (TJD-RJ), Antônio Vanderler, decided to deny the prosecutor's request for the full-back's preventive suspension. In the first match of the final, the Flamengo player committed a hard foul on Maicosuel and attempted to intimidate the Alvinegro midfielder after the play.

"We used common sense and denied the request. The damage would be irreparable. Imagine if I handed down the punishment and he was acquitted next week? I analyzed the incident and didn't find it subject to Article 35. It was a slightly harsher offense, but not violent.

As a result, Flamengo didn't need to file a writ of guarantee with the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) to secure Juan's presence at the match. Flamengo's lawyer, Michel Assef Filho, however, expected the TJD president to deny the prosecutor's request.
