Fans want to mobilize directors to buy the midfielder's rights
LANCEPRESS!
Ibson's loan contract with Flamengo ends in July, but Flamengo fans have already begun mobilizing for the player's stay. The 18 Embassies of the Nation, a project through which the club's board recognizes organized fan groups outside of Rio de Janeiro, launched a campaign titled "Stay, Ibson" to mobilize Flamengo officials to make an effort to keep the player at Gávea in the second half of 2009.
Fans have created a website (www.ficaibson.com.br) and hope to receive messages of support for Ibson. With this, the Flamengo club intends to demonstrate the player's importance to the fans and encourage the board to purchase the midfielder's federation rights from Porto (POR). The stipulated amount is R$11 million, but Flamengo reportedly offered only R$7 million. The player's contract with the Portuguese club runs until 2011.
In addition to the website, fans intend to make shirts, caps, stickers and other accessories with the campaign slogan.
