On Flamengo Fan Day, established in 2007 by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, the Official Website of Brazil's Most Beloved Club launched an invitation for those interested in telling how this Wednesday, October 28, 2009, Saint Jude Thaddeus Day, began.

Luciel Rodrigues de Souza, 38 years old, notary, Rondonópolis (MT): "Well friends, today I woke up more of a Flamengo fan than before. I'm euphoric. Everything is happening on a very important date for us Flamengo fans. This October 28th will be unforgettable, the day of our Patron Saint, Saint Jude Thaddeus, Flamengo fans' day and the day of the crucial game for our goal, which is to be integrated into the top four and, who knows, on our way to the sixth title. Lia Farias, 42 years old, housewife: "I woke up, put on my cloak, extended my 20-meter flag, congratulated my friends via Orkut, and spent the day anxious about the game against Barueri. My day was filled with constant joy. It's great to be a Flamengo fan! Thank you, my Saint Jude!"

Celso Parot de Oliveira, 35 years old, salesman, Cuiabá (MT): "I'm married, the father of three wonderful Flamengo fans, a salesman, and I live in Cuiabá. But I'm a Rio native and a Flamengo fan by birth, and to top it all off, I was duly baptized in Cosme Velho, in the glorious Church of Saint Jude Thaddeus, our patron saint. I woke up early this morning, looked at the day, and before even saying good morning to my wife, I exclaimed, as I usually do on Mengão game days: &3; Today the day dawned Red-Black! And surely the night will fall in Red and Black for this wonderful and infinite Nation that celebrates today, the 8220th, Flamengo Fan's Day. Crowned with the belated, but definitive, leadership of the 28 Brazilian Championship. And finally, on December 2009, 06, 12 million voices will explode in a unison cry of Six-Time Champion! Up to them, Mengão... with the blessing of Saint Jude Thaddeus! Greetings Red-Blacks!!!".

Douglas de Sousa Nunes, 28 years old, accounting department, Leopoldina (MG): "My day is going excellent. To end on a high note, only a victory with a goal from the Emperor, soon. I got up at 6 in the morning, took a shower and left for work with the Sacred Mantle. I started my day 'making fun' of our suffering friends who play in the second division. Today is our day."

Paulo Sérgio de Monteiro Reis, 64 years old, lawyer, Belém (PA): "My day is being sensational. I'm walking around Belém with the Flamengo fan jersey of the day, anxiously awaiting tonight's big game, which could give us the lead. My granddaughter Amanda, 6 years old, is accompanying me. I took advantage of the day to close with the website [of the club's official program] Wherever I Am I will be going to Rio, on December 6th, together with my son Rodrigo, to watch the game against Grêmio together, when, I have faith in God, we will win the sixth Brazilian Championship. Once Flamengo, Flamengo until Death!"

Allan Silva da Costa, 26 years old, industrial plumber, Xerém/Duque de Caxias (RJ): "Today is one of the most special days in the world, because we are the only ones in the world to have a day just for ourselves, and an even greater pride because this day is on the same date as the day of our patron saint, Saint Jude Thaddeus. I started this day very happy, calling, sending emails and hugging all the Flamengo fans I know and, of course, making fun of our rivals, preparing a big celebration for tonight, because besides being Flamengo's day, it will also be the day we enter the top four of the 4 Brasileirão and set off on our way to our sixth championship. That's why this day has been and will be very special for the Red-Black Nation."

Tiago Andrade Caldeira, I work in HR at Norberto Odebrecht Construction Company, Porto Velho (RO): "Today is a day of immeasurable happiness and with plenty of reasons for a double celebration: first because it is a day dedicated to the immense red-black nation. And also because it is the day when Mengão will definitively assume the leadership of the Brasileirão, heading towards the much-desired Hexa... I will always love you, wherever you are I will be, oh my Mengão... You are there, a team of tradition, race, love and passion, oh my Mengão."

Thiago Lima, 25 years old, businessman, Vitória (ES): My Flamengo fan day started early, and not even the heavy rain that fell on the city could dampen my spirits. Early in the morning, reading the local newspaper and drinking a cup of coffee, I reflected on the immense emotion of seeing the conquest of such a hard-fought and dreamed-of title... the Hexacampeonato, because when we won our fifth title, I was eight years old and didn't follow the competition closely. Especially since my father supports "Foiminense"... Arriving at work, around 9 a.m., I came across the following scene: fans, properly dressed, already gathering for the game that wouldn't start until 21:50 p.m. In the streets, banks, repartee stations, stores... there's no way around it, the topic is Flamengo Fan Day... and now, I eagerly await our sprint towards the G4, the Hexa, because Flamengo is more than a club, a religion. Below God, Jesus, and Our Lady, there is only CR Flamengo. Because being a Flamengo fan is believing in the unbelievable, touching the infinite, fighting, when it's easy to give in, winning. the invincible enemy. It's Race, Love and Passion, in short...all of this is Flamengo!"

Sergio Marcus Barbosa, Piracicaba (SP):  "On this special day of my life, I'm getting ready to travel from Piracicaba (SP) to Barueri and watch tonight's game live, where I'll certainly be gifted with another beautiful victory for the 'Most Beloved'. Good luck to our Mengão and on to the Hexa."

Adriely Faust, 13 years old, student, Joinville (SC): "Today I woke up early, happy, put on the Sacred Mantle and went to class. My friends and colleagues were all dressed in Mengão... We should be proud to have a team as beautiful and good as Flamengo! And today, on the way to the sixth title. Congratulations to the Flamengo fans!"

Carlos Max Oliveira da Silva, lawyer, Rio de Janeiro (RJ): Today I woke up inspired and happy. Besides the certainty of having a beautiful and healthy daughter, I know she's on the right path, because like her father, she's a Flamengo fan and a devotee of Saint Jude Thaddeus. Long live Saint Jude and long live Mengão, which is now on its way to becoming the Brazilian Championship champion!

He is a die-hard Flamengo fan, ever since Barueri was promoted in the Brazilian Serie A, he has been counting down the minutes, seconds, and thousandths of an hour to this day. Vagner Lopes Roberto, 39 years old, IT analyst, Taguatinga\Norte (DF): "When I woke up, still lying in bed, I recalculated my chances of reaching the top of the Brazilian championship. Aware of the possibility, I got up happy as a clam. When I left for work, I noticed that my flag wasn't in the car. I don't know if I'll watch the Mengão game at home or at the Flamengo bar. When I got to work, I sent an email to all the Flamengo fans on my list, wishing them congratulations and pasted the link to the website where the article about Flamengo Fans' Day is posted so everyone is aware." 

André Luis Vasconcellos Botelho, 29 years old, systems analyst, Juiz de Fora (MG): "Today, since midnight, I've been celebrating our well-deserved day. I've already tweeted about it, I've already written on the blog, I've already greeted my Manto brothers and everything else that could be expected of a true Flamengo fan. I'm waiting for today's game, hoping that Brazil's most beloved team will redeem itself for the Greek gift it gave me on my birthday. On August 0th, it was thrashed 16-08 by Grêmio. I hope today will be very different. May our Manto make the difference and may we thrash Barueri at their home and spend the night of our day in first place in the group (if all goes well, and our patron saint will certainly do his part in that).
