The greatness of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo and the Nação Rubro-Negra is due to the club's glorious past. Hundreds of past idols drew crowds of Flamengo fans and laid the foundations for the club's history.

Since March 2013, Flamengo's Historical Heritage Department has been organizing dozens of tributes to the club's great former athletes, in addition to recording priceless testimonies that tell the story of the most beloved club in Brazil and the world.

The tributes couldn't have started better. In March 2013, on the eve of Zico's 60th birthday, Flamengo unveiled a statue of the club's greatest idol at its Gávea headquarters. Singing the Flamengo anthem, "Galinho" (Little Rooster), accompanied by his family, removed the flag covering the monument along with president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, to the delight of the fans present at the club.

Between meetings, tributes, testimonies, exhibitions, the 100 years of Fernandinho, the centenaries of Valido and Leônidas da Silva, athletes who were champions of Rio, Brazil and the world for Flamengo and birthdays of the month were remembered.
