News without a commitment to the truth

By - in

The website Lancenet! published, this Friday, a news story that talked about an alleged argument between the VP of Administration – Claudio Pracownik – and the VP of Marketing – Luiz Eduardo Baptista, which took place in July, at the Marimbás club.

This news, like some others previously published, is untrue. The aforementioned meeting at the Marimbás club never took place, much less the disagreement between the two VPs regarding the club's dues adjustment.

In reality, this adjustment was widely discussed within the club's Board of Directors, in its regular meetings where, unanimously, it was agreed that it was necessary to correct these monthly fees – frozen since 2009 – given the forecast of a huge financial deficit at the club's headquarters (more than R$6 million for this year).

Clube de Regatas do Flamengo doesn't understand why the journalist responsible didn't contact the club or anyone else involved in the story—a basic procedure of good journalism. Had this been done, the website would have avoided the mistake of publishing a story with no commitment to the truth.

It is also worth noting that, contrary to what some media outlets try to convey, the current Board of Directors is united and knows that a high level of debate of ideas is a very positive thing for a successful administration.

Finally, we would like to remind you that the work being carried out by the new board strictly follows the government plan widely publicized by Chapa Azul during the election process, a plan approved by an absolute majority of Flamengo members.
