Amid applause from fans and members present at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium, at the end of the elections this Monday (December 02.12nd), the president-elect for the 2013/14/15 term gave his first official speech. As his first action, he passed the baton to his number two, Walter D'Agostino, who broke protocol, as he stated he had no vice-president.
After quoting part of the song 'Canta, canta, minha gente' by Martinho da Vila, Walter D'Agostino praised the fans' participation in this election victory.
"We have to thank this fantastic group. They won the election. Today Flamengo demonstrated democracy, where we can coexist with opposing ideas. And the alternation of power is part of democracy. From now on it will only be black and red. This thought will prevail above all else. Long live Clube de Regatas do Flamengo! Long live the young Flamengo fans. We were you yesterday, we made Flamengo's glory. A place the club should never have left," said Walter D'Agostino, passing the microphone to the president-elect.
Eduardo Bandeira de Mello also made a point of thanking the fans for their support. The new president also took the opportunity to praise the support of his family.
"Nation, members... I'm very emotional and I won't go on for too long. I want to thank Wallim first, because this victory is also his. I also thank the team, from the top management to our supporters. I can't forget my family, my wife and children, who are here with me. And the fans too, because they made this victory possible.
