The tactical variation of Paulo Henrique's scheme

Daniel Alves has become Dunga's trusted man due to his versatility. At Flamengo, Leo Moura previously played as a midfielder and, under Rogério Lourenço, has been frequently swapping positions with Willians, who plays on the right side of midfield. Both are inspirations for the club's youth coach, Paulo Henrique, who has been leveraging Rafael Galhardo's quality to use him as a playmaker for the Gávea team in the Eurofarma Under-20 Super Cup.
"They're two sensational full-backs. I've been with Leo since last year and I consider him like a father figure, always giving me advice, telling me what to do... And Dani Alves, I've always liked his style, both as a winger and as a midfielder. I find it easy to play in the middle and I try to watch their games to know where to stand and what to do," said Galhardo.
This variation was tested by coach Paulo Henrique during the international tournament matches against Peñarol and Porto, and in both matches, Galhardo performed exceptionally well in his new role. Against the Uruguayans, he scored the winning goal, and against the Portuguese, he provided a beautiful assist for Eliabe to seal the 3-0 victory. All under the watchful eye of Flamengo's greatest midfielder, Zico.
"Him being here with us is great, and there's nothing better than playing well and showing that he can count on the players here at the youth level. I've always liked playing in the middle, especially because I'm a very attacking full-back, and I feel very comfortable with coach Paulo giving me the freedom to create," added the youth team's number 2.
Alex gets a chance - With Galhardo moving to the middle, Alex takes the right-back position, who also approved of the new formation and explained that, in addition, the dedication of the red-black kids is another factor that could make a difference in Flamengo's favor in the competition.
"The team worked out this way, thank God. We practiced this variation a lot with Rafa in the middle, because he has the quality to create, and the team is very focused on the title. We're going to fight hard to come away with the victory," he concluded.
This Thursday (July 29.07), Flamengo will decide its classification in the Eurofarma Super Cup. The red-blacks face Palmeiras at 16 pm, and a draw will guarantee the Gávea team a place in the next phase.
