The under-20 team's next opponent in the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament (OPG) shouldn't bring any surprises to Flamengo coach Cleber dos Santos. After all, this Saturday's match (November 02.11), at 15:30 pm, at the Frade Municipal Stadium, will mark the third meeting between Flamengo and Serra Macaense in the competition. The duel will be part of the third round of the second phase.
"It's a really tough match for us, as it will be played in the mountains of Macaé, on a tight pitch and against a team that won the last U-20 State Championship Series B. The two teams already know each other well and it will be a very tough match. We need to be well prepared mentally to win the game at their home ground," said the coach.
The two teams are in Group E, which also includes Bangu and América. Both Flamengo and Serra Macaense have four points, but Mais Querido is the leader due to its better goal difference. The top of the standings is crucial, as at the end of the second phase, only the group's top-place finisher will advance to the OPG final.
In the first stage, the Red-Black team prevailed in the head-to-head record. At their opponent's home ground, they held on to a 0-0 draw. At Gávea, they won 3-1.
