BASE SOCCER AGENDA – SEPTEMBER 03-09

By - in
- U-20:

After a crucial 3-2 comeback victory over Vasco last week, with goals from Vitor Gabriel, Matheus Dantas, and Yuri, Flamengo's U-20 team has no game scheduled for the week and will continue preparing at CT Ninho do Urubu for next week's match against Coritiba, in the fifth round of the second phase of the Brazilian Championship. A draw could seal the Mais Querido's qualification for the semifinals of the national competition, which could even result in a loss if Vasco and Fluminense draw in the round's other game.

- U-17:

Goytacaz x Flamengo - Friday (07) at 13 pm, in Campos.

Competition: State Championship

The champions of the Evergrande Cup in China and the Dallas Cup in the United States return to the Guanabara Cup with a long trip to Campos. Their opponent will be Goytacaz, at the Ary de Oliveira Stadium, in a match scheduled for Friday, a holiday (07). The "Garotos do Ninho" (The Nest Boys) lead the competition with 52 points in 20 games, and a record of 15 wins, four draws, and only one loss, ahead of Vasco, who has 50 points and faces Macaé, also away from home.

The U-17 team met its first opponent in the Brazilian Cup for this category: Londrina. The first leg takes place on October 3rd at Estádio do Café, and if they win by two goals, the Red-Black team will be eliminated from the second leg at Trio de Janeiro.

- U-16:

Barra da Tijuca x Flamengo - Thursday (06), at 10 am, at Arena Interfut.

Competition: Guilherme Embry Tournament

The 3-0 victory over Nova Iguaçu in the last round was crucial and allowed the "Garotos do Ninho" (The Nest Boys) to stay alive in the return leg of the Guilherme Embry Stadium, as leaders Botafogo and Fluminense drew their matches against Vasco and Barra da Tijuca, respectively. Another victory this Thursday against Barra da Tijuca could give Flamengo the lead, as Botafogo and Fluminense tied 2-2 at the CEFAT. Currently, "Mais Querido" has 12 points, just two behind Fluminense and three behind Botafogo, who have one fewer win than the Rubro-Negro.

In addition to the champions of each round, the team with the best overall points record, excluding the scores of the two round champions, will also qualify for the final triangular, which will decide the champion of the 2018 Guilherme Embry Tournament. Currently, with the exclusion of Botafogo, the first round champion, the Garotos do Ninho lead the overall standings with 35 points, followed by Fluminense, which has 30 points. Therefore, the Rubro-Negro would be guaranteed a spot in the competition's decisive triangular, even if they are not the second round champion.
