The U-20 team, led by coach Maurício Souza, takes the field this week for two important clashes. After crossing the country and thrashing Real Desportivo Ariquemes by an incredible 10-0 in Rondônia, the biggest win in the history of the Copa do Brasil in this category, the Garotos do Ninho host Internacional this Thursday at 15 pm in Gávea, in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the national competition. Runner-up in 2017, the Mais Querido is fighting for its first title and will decide its place in the semifinals in Porto Alegre next week.
On Saturday, the 13th, the division turns its attention to the Guanabara Cup. With two wins (Goytacaz and Cabofriense) and a draw (Madureira) in the first three rounds, Flamengo plays the first derby in its bid for its second state championship away from home, against Botafogo at CEFAT. Immediately after the match, Mais Querido travels to Dallas, USA, to compete in the Generation Adidas Cup, an important international competition in which Flamengo is the current champion, and will fight for its second title. The debut takes place on Saturday (13), at 8:45 am (Brasília time), against Valencia, from Spain. Montreal Impact (Canada) and Seattle Sounders (USA) complete Group D of the competition. Al Nasr (UAE) x Flamengo – Saturday (13), at 09:45 am, in Dubai
Competition: Dubai International Championship
Another international competition, another fight for the red-and-black team's second title in the tournament. Considered the U-16 World Cup, in 2018 the Dubai International Championship saw Flamengo thrash Borussia Dortmund (Germany) 8-2 in the semifinals, defeat Real Madrid (Spain) on penalties in the final, and showcase midfielder Reinier, who shone as the competition's top scorer and top waiter in 2018. This year, the Mais Querido returns to the World Cup with a renewed team, but highly motivated to enchant the world once again and reveal new talents for Brazilian football. The debut is on Thursday (11), against Atlético de Madrid, from Spain.
- U-15:
Flamengo x Barra da Tijuca - Thursday (11), at 9 am, in Nova Iguaçu.
Competition: State Championship (Guanabara Cup)
Devastating. That's the word that sums up Flamengo's performance in the first two rounds of the U-15 Guanabara Cup. In the opener, an 8-0 victory over Bangu in Gávea. Then, away from home, another 5-0 thrashing of Portuguesa. 13 goals scored in just two games, no goals conceded, and they're top of Group B, alongside Vasco and Barra da Tijuca, making this match so crucial for the Garotos do Ninho's run in the Guanabara Cup.
