After two consecutive victories, Fla faces América-MG in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship
Rubro-Negro takes to the field this Wednesday (9), at 15 pm, at Estádio da Gávea
By nelson coast - inRiding high on two consecutive victories in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, the Garotos do Ninho face América-MG in search of three more points in the competition, this Wednesday (9), at 15 pm, at Estádio da Gávea. Flamengo is in 10th place, with six points in four games. Cruzeiro is the leader, with ten.
Champion of the U-20 Libertadores less than a month ago, the Rubro-Negro team hasn't had a good start to the top national competition. After two losses, the team has picked up steam, scoring six points in a row. One of the pleasant surprises has been striker Pedrinho, who has already scored nine times this season. He assures that he will have no shortage of determination to achieve another positive result.
"Expectations for the game are the best possible. We've been working hard, always paying attention to what Nuno is asking. The team is confident after two important victories, in the derby against Fluminense and then against Cuiabá. We have to pick up points to move up the table. We're going after the three points to try and fight for the title," says the striker.
A blistering start to the season has yielded some good opportunities for Pedrinho. A seven-goal scorer in the Copa Rio, he caught the eye of coach Nuno Campos and did not disappoint. He scored the first goal in the 2-1 Fla-Flu victory, his first in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, and only needed a minute to find the net again, this time in the 3-0 victory over Cuiabá last Sunday.
Flamengo held its last training session at CT George Helal on Tuesday afternoon (8) before the match against América-MG. After the match against the Minas Gerais team, Flamengo will face another team from Minas Gerais: leader Cruzeiro, on the 16th, at 15 pm, at Toca da Raposa I, in Belo Horizonte.
