The red-black youth academy sets a new all-time record and wins 44 titles in the 2022 season.
Of the 13 categories, 12 won national and international trophies
By Ian Sena - inIn the season in which they won their fourth Copa do Brasil title and their third Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores title, Flamengo's youth team celebrated another historic milestone: the red-and-black youth team reached the impressive mark of 44 titles won in 2022, surpassing the 27 trophies won in 2021 and setting a new record for the "Garotos do Ninho" (The Boys of the Nest). Of the 13 youth soccer categories, 12 were champions. These are impressive numbers that demonstrate, once again, the excellence of the work carried out daily by Flamengo's youth soccer department.
"Our utopia is for Flamengo to always be the best. To achieve this, we strive to offer the best structure, environment, and working conditions for our athletes and employees every day. This goal has been achieved and has become a benchmark, and the improvement of our processes has led us to excellent work that translates into titles, an increasing number of athletes released to professional football ready to perform, and the continuous breaking of records. We will continue working to increase these numbers," said Vitor Zanelli, Vice President of Youth Football, Women's Football, and Futsal.

Zanelli is joined by Luiz Carlos, General Manager of Youth Football, who also spoke about the work carried out.
"We have raised our standards in terms of structure, athletes, and processes. This has increasingly helped us fulfill our core business (the company's main activity), which is to train and prepare players for professional football. In each of the last two years, including 2022, we have had more than 20 U-20 athletes play in at least one professional match. Our The integration and closeness with the professional department through Noval (Transition Manager), Juan (Technical Manager), Fabinho (Football Manager) and Bruno Spindel (Executive Director) are fundamental for the progress of the work and good results", said Luiz Carlos.

Off-field work is essential for achievements to materialize. Within a vertically integrated work process and integration among all categories, the ongoing training offered to the coaching staff, which works with a complete exchange of activities day after day, and the PDI (Individualized Development Plan) offered to athletes, with various activities designed for personal and human development, such as financial education, Spanish and English classes, among several other programs, also have an impact on the field. As well as the continuous investment in the Scientific Department, integrated with the Medical Department, which also includes areas of advanced physiology, nutrition, and pharmaceuticals, all offering individualized support for each athlete.
"We understand that a strong foundation begins with a strong training and preparation process. Within this context, I believe that the PDI and ongoing training are the great leap forward for our Youth Football Department. Through them, the individual development of professionals ultimately emphasizes the collective development of the team, as you develop the athlete and the team. The importance of this is fundamental, and reinforced by our results on the field throughout the season," said Fabiano Médici. Scientific Coordinator of Flamengo's Youth Football Department, who oversees the integration work between all areas of the department.

Providing technical and financial benefits to the club year after year, the Recruitment Department is another crucial element in Flamengo's growing number of regional, national, and international youth football achievements. To achieve this, building and maintaining a solid, structured, and well-organized department with watchful eyes spread throughout Brazil and South America is essential.
"Flamengo's investment in recruitment is increasingly greater and more comprehensive. Today, we have our eyes on all youth competitions in Brazil and abroad. Proof of this is that we recently sent one of our scouts to a competition in Nigeria. On the team that won the Flamengo Adidas Cup undefeated in early December, 14 of the 23 registered athletes were recruited by us. We will continue working closely with the club, always with the goal of ensuring that the best athletes wear the Sacred Mantle," said Thiago Rocha, Flamengo's Recruitment Coordinator.

The number of Ninho Boys who are loaned to the professional team, winning titles and gaining the nation's favor is increasing. This is proof that,Even with the constant rebuilding of squads, which normally happen even in the middle of each season, Flamengo's youth academy continues to form with ever greater quality and prepare athletes with the red-black DNA, winning a lot and providing more and more athletes to professional football, the department's main objective.
"This string of record-breaking titles that we're breaking year after year isn't a coincidence. We work hard every day to stay at the top. Having an increasing number of high-level athletes, our constant pursuit of process excellence, and the ever-increasing investment in our recruitment department, seeking athletes from communities across Brazil with an even more discerning eye are all topics that lead us to excellent work that results in titles, records, and athletes from the youth academy to the professional ranks. We will continue to work harder and harder!" concluded Vitor Zanelli.
