Even with three Flamengo players, the Brazilian team lost the final of the hexagonal U-20 tournament to Mexico 3-2 in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Early in the match, striker Pulido burst into the box and fired a powerful shot to open the scoring. In the 25th minute, Alan fouled Garcia in the penalty area. Guarch sent a penalty into the top right corner, giving goalkeeper Nilton no chance. 2-0.
