It wasn't a good night for Flamengo's youth academy. Even with three Flamengo players, the Brazilian team lost the final of the hexagonal U-20 tournament to Mexico 3-2 in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Early in the match, striker Pulido burst into the box and fired a powerful shot to open the scoring. In the 25th minute, Alan fouled Garcia in the penalty area. Guarch sent a penalty into the top right corner, giving goalkeeper Nilton no chance. 2-0.

In the 43rd minute, Rafael Galhardo crossed the ball into the Mexican box, and Thiaguinho tapped it into the back of the net. 2-1. Less than a minute into the second half, Brazil equalized through Lucas Zen. After a cross into the box, Oscar headed back, and the defender fired a powerful shot into the middle of the goal. 2-2. Six minutes later, the final blow came. Villalobo crossed the ball from the baseline, and Guarch sealed the victory: 3-2. The goal was controversial and even led to the dismissal of coach Rogério Lourenço.
