Flamengo were beaten 3-1 by Botafogo, away from home, on the synthetic pitch of the Nilton Santos Stadium, for the 11th round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. Camargo scored the red-black goal in the duel, played this Wednesday (13).
The start of the match was mostly concentrated in midfield, without dangerous attacks. Flamengo had a good chance in the 11th minute when Daniel Sales exchanged passes with Sayago on the right flank and crossed dangerously. Alan and Josmar were in the box but couldn't reach the ball. In the 16th minute, Botafogo took the lead from a penalty after the referee awarded a handball on a shot blocked by Johnny, who was very close to the ball. In the 22nd minute, Alan escaped down the left wing and crossed into the box. The opposing defense managed to clear the danger.
Two minutes later, the Alvinegro counter-attacked down the right and managed a shot, which was saved by Léo Nannetti. The equalizer almost came from a Pablo free-kick that grazed the left post in the 29th minute. Shortly after, Alan had space at the edge of the area and shot over the bar. Léo Nannetti made a good save in the left corner in the 35th minute from a low shot outside the area, but the opponent extended their lead in the 40th minute.
Botafogo managed the score and tried to control the match, while Flamengo sought a reaction. At 21 minutes, Josmar took advantage of a cross from the right, but the Botafogo goalkeeper managed to palm it away for a corner. Botafogo scored their third goal at 34 minutes, and eight minutes later Camargo sealed the victory, taking advantage of a pass from Alan on the right.
Flamengo's next opponent in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship will be Juventude-RS. The match is scheduled for Saturday (16), at 15 pm.
