Flamengo defeated Vasco da Gama and became champions of the Brasil Soccer Cup Sub-16 this Saturday. After a 1-1 draw in the title match, Flamengo won 4-1 against their rival in a penalty shootout, in a duel played at the Claudio Moacyr de Azevedo Stadium, the Moacyrzão, in Macaé. Léo scored Flamengo's goal.

The first half was quite balanced with few scoring opportunities. Then, in the 22nd minute, Vasco opened the scoring. Flamengo went in search of an equalizer, while their opponents began to rely on quick transitions, and the first half ended without much work for the goalkeepers.

The scenario remained quite similar in the second half. Neither team managed to be decisive in their offensive actions and resorted to sending many balls into the box. Flamengo tried to control the game, but had to pay attention to Vasco's attacks. In the 13th minute, Flamengo had a chance: Nathan headed dangerously wide to the right of the goalkeeper after a free kick.

The equalizer came soon after. Léo received a cross from Ricardo Pietro on the right and scored a beautiful goal, volleying it first time, in the 16th minute. Flamengo improved their performance and became more present in attack, especially down the right flank.

At 28 minutes, Ryan received the ball from Marcos Pierre, this time on the left, and shot over the bar. Following that, Willian went down the right wing, crossed, and the ball went across the area, very close to the goal. Despite coming closer to scoring a second goal, Flamengo didn't score and the match ended in a draw.

In the penalty shootout, Flamengo was ruthless. The youngsters from the youth academy scored all four of their penalties, winning 4-1 and clinching the title. Léo, Nathan, Marcos Pierre, and Samuel scored the goals, and goalkeeper Alessandro Alan even saved one shot.
