By Flamengo Communication - inIn a lecture held on Friday afternoon (16), in the youth academy module of CT George Helal, captain Diego Ribas inspired athletes and technical committees of the U-16 and U-17 categories with memories and experiences from more than 20 years of his victorious career.
In a rich and fruitful chat that lasted about an hour, Diego recalled his first steps and his first disappointments in the world of football, his first national title, at just 17 years of age, more than ten years of successful experience in European football and his arrival at Flamengo, according to him, to fulfill a childhood dream.
"It's a movie that plays in my head, because I've been in those boys' shoes. Today, more than 20 years after the beginning of my career, I'm very happy and honored to have the opportunity to talk about my personal and professional experience with these young athletes and, in a way, to be able to serve as an inspiration to these kids. The exchange was very interesting and enriching, because I also learned a lot from all of them," said Diego, who added:
"Achieving success in the world of football isn't easy. They need to be aware of all the obstacles they'll face along the way and know that, no matter what happens, their fear can never overcome their courage. That's why I've managed to get where I am," concluded the red-and-black captain.
In addition to Diego, his idol Juan also participated in the event. The initiative kicked off a series of activities that will be held to offer sports experiences to the Ninho Boys.
"This was just the first in a series of lectures and informal discussions we'll have in store. We've already made contact with several other athletes from the current squad and idols from Flamengo's history, who immediately agreed to share their personal experiences with our youth soccer players and coaching staff. We believe this exchange is crucial for the development of our young players," said Vitor Zanelli, Vice President of Youth Soccer, Women's Soccer, and Futsal.
