Club renews with another promising youth team
A standout player on the youth team, striker Igor Sartori signed with the club until December 2015
By Communication - Official Club Website - inAnother promising player from Flamengo has had his contract renewed. One of the club's standout youth players, who will be competing in the Rio Cup final this Saturday (May 04.05), striker Igor Sartori, just 20 years old, has signed a new contract until the end of 2015. Igor was the top scorer in the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament last year.
"I'm very happy with the renewal and I hope to make history at the club. Now I have to continue showing on the field that I deserve to be at Flamengo," said the young striker.
Sartori has been with Flamengo for a year. He arrived as a U-20 player, but has already trained and played for the senior team. He made his debut for the Mais Querido's professional team on February 17th, when the Red-Blacks faced Botafogo in the Guanabara Cup.
In 2012, the young striker won his first and only title with Flamengo: the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Junior Tournament. This Saturday, Igor Sartori has the chance to win the title again with Flamengo. He will be on the field in the U-20 Rio Cup final against Nova Iguaçu.
Interestingly, Sartori is the son of Alcindo, a former Flamengo player. Alcindo also came up through the Mais Querido youth ranks and, among other titles, won the 1987 Brazilian Championship with the Gávea club.
