Players Vinicius, Lincoln, Matheus and Wesley, along with fitness coach Arthur Peixoto, returned from Venezuela with the quadrangular title they won against the competition's hosts and are now ready for the Brazil-Japan Friendship Cup. Starting this Thursday (August 20.08), Geração 2000 will debut against Portuguesa at 16 p.m. The competition will take place at the Zico Football Center (CFZ).
The red-and-black team is the current champion and will go into the competition defending its title. Also champions of the 2015 Votorantim Cup and 3rd place in the 2015 Copa Brasil Laranjal Paulista, the boys face, still in the first round, the Perles Noires of Haiti, on Friday (August 21.08), and Atlético-MG, on Saturday (August 22.08). On the same day, the squad will be split in two due to the category's Taça Rio, whose fourth round is also scheduled for this Saturday. The state match will be against Botafogo, at CEFAT.
"Expectations are very high. The team is in excellent form in the state championship, with a 100% record (three games and three wins). The arrival of two new players will further enhance the squad. After the first phase, each game will be a decisive one, and our goal is to reach the final and pursue our second title. This is an international-level competition, with strong teams from various Brazilian states and a very evenly matched squad," said coach Dudu Patetuci.
After this phase, the top team from each group advances, and the three best second-place teams advance to the second phase, played in a knockout format. Flamengo's under-15 team still has the Taça Rio (State Championship) and the BH Cup on its 2015 calendar. Invest in Flamengo's youth football: become a fan member.
