Flamengo's U-16 team, led by coach Leo Ramos, won its fourth consecutive match in the 2022 Olaria Renovado Cup, securing a spot in the final with a perfect run. Today's victim was Fluminense, in a classic match valid for the competition's semifinal. With two goals from top scorer Luan Andrey, who has already scored six times in the tournament, and a stunning strike from Pedro Nunes, Mengão won 3-2, and awaits Vasco or Madureira in the grand final, which will be played this Saturday (12), at 9 am, with live broadcast on FlaTV.
The Game
Once again playing in intense heat at Rua Bariri Stadium, the Garotos do Ninho showed their fitness levels were up to par at the start of the season, and they looked to dominate the game from the opening whistle. The first goal for the red-and-blacks came in the 20th minute, when Sandro stole the ball from the Tricolor defense in midfield, drove it at speed to the edge of the box, and was brought down. Luan Andrey skillfully converted the penalty, beating goalkeeper Davi, and opening the scoring for the Mais Querido.
In the 27th minute, Brasília tied the game for Fluminense. Goalkeeper Caio Barone still touched the ball, but without enough force to prevent the goal.
Mengão didn't feel the draw, attacked again and scored the second right at the beginning of the second half. After five minutes, Pedro Nunes struck a beautiful shot from the edge of the box, finding the top corner of Davi's net, and scored a stunning goal! With an extra man on the field after defender Lucas Barbosa was sent off, Fluminense equalized again with a beautiful goal from Kelwin in the 17th minute.
Defensively solid, Flamengo decided the match and their spot in the final with a single play. In the 29th minute, David received the ball in midfield, beat his marker with speed, and only missed the goal because his shirt was pulled by midfielder Maxsuel, who was deservedly sent off. Luan Andrey perfectly converted the free kick, sealing the fourth victory for Flamengo in four matches in the competition. A spot in the final was guaranteed!
