Flamengo took to the field for the seventh round of the Brasileirão Sub-20 and beat Bahia 3-0 on Saturday afternoon (23), in Gávea. Mengão's goals were scored by Pedro Arthur and Mateusão (twice), with a bicycle kick from the red-black center forward. With the result, Mais Querido rose to third place in Group A with 14 points.
The game
Playing at home, the Ninho Boys started the match looking to attack. Just four minutes in, the Red-Blacks created their first good opportunity. Petterson passed to Werton at the edge of the box, and the striker fired a low shot just wide of the post.
Bahia, meanwhile, struggled to get the ball out of their own half and into attack due to the red-and-black team's pressing marking. In the 11th minute, Daniel Cabral unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box, forcing the goalkeeper to send it out for a corner. Mateusão then received the ball in the box and fired a powerful shot, but the ball hit the post.
Flamengo moved the ball from foot to foot, looking for space in Bahia's defense. In the final stretch of the first half, the game slowed down. Then, in the 42nd minute, Flamengo opened the scoring! Werton fed Wesley on the right, who sent a low cross that Pedro Arthur simply tapped into the net: 1-0.
The second half had barely begun when the Mais Querido extended their lead with a stunning goal! Werton, wide on the right, crossed perfectly for Mateusão to hit a beautiful bicycle kick. A beautiful goal from the red-and-black center forward: 2-0.
There wasn't even time to breathe! In the 8th minute, Flamengo scored the third goal again through Mateusão. After a ball was lofted into the box, the center forward headed it in to score his second goal of the game: 3-0.
Even with a strong lead, Mengão didn't back down and continued to push for more goals. With a strong collective performance, Mengão secured a comfortable victory in Gávea.
