In a duel between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo teams, in the 16th round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, Flamengo beat São Paulo 2-1, on Tuesday night (30), at Raulino de Oliveira. Wallace Yan scored both goals for the Garotos do Ninho, who are now in third place with 28 points.
The game
Flamengo's first dangerous move came just four minutes in, with Shola receiving the ball at the edge of the box and shooting at goal. The goalkeeper made the save. In the 10th minute, Flamengo opened the scoring through Zé Wellinton, but the referee ruled Wallace Yan, who had provided the pass, offside.
The Nest Boys threatened again in the 29th minute with Wallace Yan, who came face-to-face with the goalkeeper but ended up shooting straight at him. The next play, Guilherme received the ball inside the box and shot toward goal. The goalkeeper, once again, made a good save.
In the final minutes of the first half, Dyogo Alves made a great save to save São Paulo's goal. And in the final minutes, Mengão broke the deadlock! Wallace Yan dribbled past two defenders inside the box and fired a low shot. The ball sailed between the post and the goalkeeper and into the net. São Paulo went into halftime with the lead.
In the first minute of the second half, Flamengo threatened with a counterattack. Lorran worked the play inside and passed to the right for Wallace Yan, who entered the box and shot over the goal. In the 9th minute, the Ninho Boys again threatened. Wallace Yan received the ball on the left, entered the box, and shot powerfully. The goalkeeper made the save.
São Paulo equalized in the 17th minute with Paulinho, who completed the goal inside the six-yard box: 1-1. But Mengão reacted quickly and scored the second in the 21st minute, again with Wallace Yan! Lorran led a counterattack on the right and crossed perfectly for the number 9 to complete into the net: 2-1.
Worth noting was the outstanding performance of Flamengo goalkeeper Dyogo Alves, who excelled with key saves. In the final minutes, Felipe Lima nearly scored Flamengo's third goal with a close-range header. The goalkeeper managed to palm the ball away, and the rebound was blocked by Wallace Yan. The match ended in Volta Redonda with a Flamengo victory, their third consecutive in the competition.
