A great debut! In their first game in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship, Flamengo defeated Botafogo 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon (24) in Gávea. Samuel and Lázaro scored in the first half for the Rubro-Negro, who had a penalty saved by goalkeeper Bruno, and Otávio and Pedro Arthur were sent off in the second half. In the next round of the competition, the Garotos do Ninho will face Corinthians on May 1st. 

The first thirty minutes of the game were dominated by Botafogo, but without giving goalkeeper Bruno much trouble. Flamengo had two chances and scored the match's goals in quick succession. In the 41st minute, Samuel received a free kick on the right, burst into the box, and fired a superb shot to open the scoring. Five minutes later, Caio and Lázaro combined for a great one-two. The striker controlled the ball in the box and fired a cross-shot to make it 2-0.

In the second half, the best chances fell to the team from General Severiano. In the 35th minute, Filipe Short sent a penalty into the left corner, and goalkeeper Bruno made a brilliant save to save the Red-Blacks. Short's defender Otávio was soon sent off. 

A few minutes later, Botafogo reduced the deficit with a goal from Guilherme, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Garotos do Ninho, who, despite having two players sent off, secured victory in the classic.
