In the third round of Group B of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship, Flamengo thrashed Internacional 4-0 on Saturday afternoon (17), in Gávea, in yet another beautiful collective performance. The Rubro-Negro's goals were scored by Mateus Dias, Petterson (twice) and Will. With broad control of the action, the Mais Querido surrounded the opponent throughout the match and managed to win comfortably on the scoreboard.

The game
The first half began with Flamengo pressing the opponent's ball out of their own half. Just one minute in, the red-and-black team attacked down the left with Mateus Dias, who found Petterson in the box. The red-and-black striker challenged the goalkeeper and nearly opened the scoring.

With the majority of possession, Mengão exchanged passes in Internacional's midfield, seeking out penetration plays on the flanks. Defensively, the red-and-black team pushed up their lines, making it difficult for the Colorado team to get the ball out. In the 34th minute, Mengão opened the scoring! Richard ran well down the left, crossed into the box, and Mateus Dias rose to the third floor to head home the first goal: 1-0.

Two minutes later, Flamengo extended their lead with Petterson! Richard made another good run down the left and lifted the ball into the box. The ball went past the Flamengo defense and fell to the center forward, who slotted it home: 2-0. Having been the better team throughout the first half, Mengão went into halftime with a two-point lead.

Early in the second half, the Ninho Boys created a threat. Will received the ball at the edge of the box and took a shot. The ball sailed over the crossbar. In the 12th minute, the Red-Blacks scored their third! In an individual play down the left, Petterson took the ball to the baseline and crossed low into the middle of the box. Will arrived and finished first time, filling the net: 3-0.

And Flamengo was hungry for goals! In the 16th minute, after a corner kick in the box, the Colorado defense tried to clear the ball, but the ball fell to Petterson, who fired a shot for his second goal of the match and the fourth for the Mais Querido: 4-0. In the 34th minute, the red-and-black team almost scored a fifth. Richard made a good run down the left and sent in a low cross. Mateus Dias arrived with a shot, but the ball went just wide of the post.

Dominating throughout the match, and with an excellent collective performance from the entire team, Mengão had no major difficulties in building up the score and leaving the field with three more points to climb the league table.
