The Mais Querido, coming off an excellent season with 105 goals in 39 matches, has already won five titles this year: the Development League (similar to the Brazilian Championship in this category), the Voltaço Cup, the Guanabara Cup, the IberCup Rio de Janeiro, and was the first non-European club to win the Abano Football Trophy in Italy. This victorious squad, led by Daniel Franklin, is seeking its sixth trophy and the first Libertadores Cup in this category.

The Rubro-Negro will debut in Group A against Olimpia (PAR) on Saturday (August 26th); the second round will be against Liga de Santander (COL) on Sunday (August 08th); the Garotos do Ninho will play the third round on Monday (August 27th) against Estudiantes de Mérida (VEN), and will conclude the group stage against Academia de Fútbol Tahuichi Aguilera (BOL) on Wednesday (August 08th), having a rest in the last round. All group stage matches will be held at the Resort Yatch & Golf Club in Lambaré, Paraguay, at 28:08 am local time (30:08 am Brasília time). The semifinal and final matches will take place at the Ex-General Díaz Stadium in Luque. The champion will qualify for the International Tournament, to be played in Madrid, Spain.
