After a good start, Flamengo took the lead against Palmeiras, with a goal from Ryan Roberto, but suffered a comeback in the first half and was defeated 2-1 this Wednesday (9), at the José Bastos Padilha Stadium, in Gávea, in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. The red-black team pressed hard in the final stretch of the match and even wasted a penalty, taken by Ryan Roberto, in the 38th minute of the second half.

Flamengo's first attack, in the second minute, found the back of the net. In a lightning-fast move, right-back Diego Guimarães received the ball and crossed accurately for Ryan Roberto to score. With numerous plays in midfield, the match was tightly contested, with few chances for the goalkeepers to overcome.

Palmeiras' equalizer came in their first attack, with number 11 Juan Gabriel in the 17th minute. João Vitor narrowly missed scoring Flamengo's second, with a run down the right and a shot with the outside of his foot. The São Paulo goalkeeper palmed the ball away with a superb save.

Palmeiras won a few midfield duels and scored their second goal with Juan Francisco, who headed in a cross from the right in the 37th minute. Soon after, the second goal for the red-and-black team was a close call. João Vitor received the ball from Diego on the right, cut inside the midfield, and provided a good pass to Lucas Falcone, who advanced and shot just wide of the left post in the 43rd minute. Luiz Gustavo then struck a powerful shot in the 47th minute, but the Palmeiras goalkeeper was well-positioned and saved.

Palmeiras had the first good chance of the second half, with a shot that went wide of Eduardo Clasen's left post in the 11th minute. Ryan Roberto then ran down the left wing and sent in a low cross. The opposing defense cleared it. In the 14th minute, the red-and-black number 1 palmed a free kick from the left side over the goal line.

After a good play by João Vitor, on the left side, Flamengo had a great chance to equalize, with Luiz Guilherme and, in the rebound, with Enzo Pinheiro, but the opposing goalkeeper managed to make the save, in the 17th minute. In the next play, Rogerio crossed and Luiz Guilherme headed over the crossbar.

Ryan Roberto received the ball on the left, entered the box, and was awarded a penalty in the 36th minute. The number 11 himself shot over the crossbar, missing the best opportunity of the match. The equalizer almost happened again, this time in the 44th minute, with a shot from Victor Hugo. The opposing goalkeeper, however, palmed it away for a corner.

Flamengo suffered its fourth defeat in nine games in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. The next opponent for the team, which has 15 points, will be Fluminense, on Wednesday, July 16th, at 7:14 pm, at the Marcelo Vieira Stadium, in Xerém.
