Fans at Gávea Stadium on Saturday afternoon (20) saw an inspired Flamengo and Vitor Gabriel. With four goals from the center forward, the U-20 team, led by coach Márcio Torres, mercilessly thrashed Carapebús 7-0 (Vitor Gabriel [4], Yuri [2] and Henrique) and, without any scares, qualified as leaders of Group A for the second phase of the traditional Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament, with seven points won in three games (a 3-0 victory over Audax, and a 1-1 draw against Nova Iguaçu, away from home). Following the competition, Flamengo will face América, Olaria and Madureira in a home and away system. At the end of the six rounds, only the leader of each group will be qualified for the final of the competition.

Carapebús had its first opportunity in the sixth minute. Léo Reis took a shot from the edge of the box, and Pedro Caracoci, making his U-20 debut, flew to make a great save. Flamengo made no mistake, scoring with its first shot. In the eighth minute, Bill passed the ball to Vitor Gabriel. Well-positioned inside the box, he only had to finish first time to open the scoring on a pleasant Saturday afternoon in Gávea. The Mais Querido attacked in search of a second, which nearly came in the 18th minute, with a good header from Nathan, and in the 20th, with a low shot from Vitor Gabriel. Goalkeeper Marcelo made the save on both shots.

Lacking much penetration, Carapebús attempted long-range shots or set pieces. On one of these, in the 23rd minute, Pedro unleashed a powerful shot, and Pedro Caracoci once again appeared well, making a great save and palming it away for a corner. The Red-Blacks attacked again in the 40th minute and narrowly missed extending their lead. After a corner kick, the ball fell to an unmarked Nathan. But his header went high and over Marcelo's crossbar. On the next play, the second goal came: Bill received the ball on the right wing and reached the goal line with great speed. The cross to Vitor Gabriel was precise, as was the light first touch from the Red-Blacks' center forward, who deflected it past Marcelo to score his second goal of the match. 

Just two minutes into the second half, Flamengo extended their lead. Vitor Gabriel scored a hat trick, finishing off a superb cross from Pablo on the left flank of the Flamengo attack. But there was still more to come. Six minutes in, Vitor Gabriel scored another, his fourth of the match, also known as a "poker." After a cross from Luiz Henrique, the Flamengo's top scorer headed in stylishly, finding the back of the net once again. 

The Mais Querido continued to attack and extended their lead once again. But this time, Vitor Gabriel didn't score. Wendel struck a powerful left-footed shot, and Marcelo sent it back into the middle of the box. Yuri was well-positioned to collect the rebound and, with a first-time shot, score the red-and-black's fifth goal of the match. The sixth goal came in the 35th minute, with a long-range shot from Henrique. The seventh—don't lose count!—came soon after, in the 37th, with a left-footed shot from Yuri, who scored his second of the game, finalizing the red-and-black's rout at Gávea.
