The heavy rain that fell at Gávea Stadium on Sunday morning (2) did not prevent Flamengo's victory over Vasco by 2-1. In the first match of the Guanabara Cup Sub-20 final, Bill and Vitor Gabriel scored the goals for Flamengo. With the result, Mais Querido opens an advantage in the final, which has its return scheduled for next Saturday (8), in São Januário.
The game
The first half was completely dominated by Flamengo. With few interventions from goalkeeper Hugo Souza, the red-and-blacks maintained possession in attack during the first 45 minutes. At 7', Vitor Gabriel shot, the goalkeeper saved, and Bill picked up the rebound to open the scoring.
In the final stretch of the first half, Vitor Gabriel received a great pass up front, controlled it, and extended the lead for Flamengo, taking the game to halftime with a 2-0 advantage.
The second half was more disjointed, and neither team managed to create as many clear scoring opportunities. Trailing on the scoreboard, Vasco began to apply more pressure, forcing Flamengo to defend more carefully. However, in the 26th minute, Linnick stole the ball and reduced the score to 2-1. The situation remained unchanged, and the match ended in this manner.
Lineup: Hugo, Matheus França, Natan, L. Freitas, Pablo; V. Souza, Gomes (Vitor Ricard), Luiz Henrique (Marx), Bill (Christopher), Yuri (Wendel) and Vitor Gabriel (Rodrigo Muniz). Coach: Maurício Souza.
