Rio U-20 Cup: Flamengo thrashes Madureira 4-2

The Ninho Boys maintained their unbeaten run in the competition. Their next match will be away against Volta Redonda.

Another victory for the Garotos do Ninho in the Rio U-20 Cup. In the third round of the competition, Flamengo defeated Madureira 4-2 this Monday at Gávea Stadium, maintaining their unbeaten run in the championship. Fred, who scored two goals and provided an assist, was the standout performer. Flamengo's other goals were scored by Lucas Vieira and Alan Santos.

In a first half of overwhelming dominance, the red-and-blacks opened up a three-goal lead, in addition to the red-and-blacks' red-and-blacks being sent off. A highlight was a beautiful free-kick goal by number 10, Fred.

In the second half, with the score wide open, Flamengo found themselves down to ten men after defender Pedro Lemos received a second yellow card. Madureira capitalized on the equalizer and scored the first goal.

In the 32nd minute, Alan Santos scored Mengão's fourth. In stoppage time, the suburban Tricolor pulled one back and sealed the match.

Flamengo, which has already scored 3 goals in 16 games,will return to play in the competition next Monday (7), to face Volta Redonda, at 15 pm, at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium.
