Football is marked by unpredictability, and those who wear the Sacred Mantle have no shortage of grit. These facts, combined with the quality of Flamengo's under-20 squad, lead the nation to believe that qualifying for the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil is still possible. Next Tuesday (October 08.10), at 19:30 pm, at Los Larios Stadium in Duque de Caxias, the mission will be difficult: defeat Remo by four goals to advance in the competition. The squad and coaching staff have enough confidence to believe in it.
"When the group returned (Friday, October 04.10th), we played a training match with the senior team and we've already noticed improved player behavior. They need to understand what it means to be a Flamengo player, what it means to wear this club's jersey. Playing for Flamengo means always believing that victory is possible. We're instilling this idea in the players' heads. Just as Remo beat us 3-0, we can build our victory goal by goal in both halves, without rushing. We're going after the score that interests us. It's difficult, but not impossible," said Cleber dos Santos, Flamengo's coach.
Midfielder Caio Quiroga echoed his coach's sentiments. "On the return trip from Belém, the group was already in good shape, confident that they would give their all in the second leg. We all want to come out of this match having qualified. We believe in a comeback, especially since we'll be playing at home, with the support of the fans, and we'll go all out," he said.
The boys are also competing in the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament (OPG). In this competition, the Mais Querido has strong records. In five matches, they have won two, drawn two, and lost only one. The team leads Group B and will face Serra Macaense next on October 12th.
