In a game valid for the eighth round of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship, Flamengo thrashed Atlético-MG 5-1 on Tuesday afternoon (5), in Gávea. Douglas Telles (2), Victor Thiago, Felipe Lima and Guilherme Gomes scored the goals that maintained Mengão's 100% record at home.

With this result, the Garotos do Ninho now have 14 points and are in third place in Group A of the national competition. Next week, the red-and-black team will face Ceará, away from home, in the final round of the first phase.

The game
The Ninho Boys started the match by pressing their opponents in search of the first goal. Just five minutes in, after a free kick just outside the box, the ball fell to Douglas Telles, who fired home a shot. The goalkeeper saved it from close range and sent it out for a corner.

Little by little, Atlético began to advance their team and began to occupy more of the attacking field. It was the Minas Gerais team that opened the scoring at Gávea in the 18th minute with Iseppe: 1-0.

Mengão reacted quickly and leveled the score! Douglas Telles received the ball at the edge of the box, cut inside, and shot into the corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance: 1-1.

After the equalizer, the red-and-black team went on the attack in search of a comeback in the first half. In the 39th minute, Bill received the ball in the box and shot toward goal, but the goalkeeper made the save.

And the turnaround came in stoppage time! Bill took a free kick from the edge of the box, and Douglas Telles pounced on the rebound to score his second goal of the match: 2-1. The Ninho Boys went into halftime with the lead.

In the second half, the Ninho Boys continued to maintain possession in the attacking half. In the 15th minute, Felipe Teresa, who had just come on, received the ball wide on the right side of the box and fired a well-placed shot. The goalkeeper, once again, saved the Minas Gerais team from conceding a third.

In the 31st minute, the Mais Querido extended their lead! After a corner kick in the box, Felipe Lima headed the ball, and captain Victor Thiago, at the far post, just finished into the net: 3-1.

Even with a healthy lead, the red-and-black team didn't slow down and continued to create chances in attack. In the 35th minute, Felipe Lima unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box; the ball hit the crossbar, bounced off the goal line, but didn't go in. The assistant referee had already flagged the number 9 for offside.

To complete the rout, Mengão scored the fourth in the 41st minute with a stunning goal! Felipe Lima was fed down the right, beat his marker, entered the box, and subtly chipped the ball over the bar: 4-1.

And there was still time for one more! In stoppage time, Guilherme Gomes displaced the goalkeeper on a penalty kick, sealing the 5-1 victory for the red-and-blacks at Gávea.

The Garotos do Ninho Sub-17 return to the field next Wednesday (13) to face Ceará, at 15 pm, at Cidade Vozão, for the last round of the group stage of the Brazilian Championship in the category.
