Qualified! In the third round of Group 5 of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup, Flamengo beat XV de Jaú, in a comeback, 2-1 on Sunday night (8), at the Zezinho Magalhães Stadium, in Jaú-SP, and advanced to the next phase of the competition. Jean Carlos, with a beautiful shot from outside the area, and Rodriguinho, in the second half, scored the goals for Mengão.
With this result, the Ninho Boys finished top of Group 5 with 7 points. Second-placed Floresta also qualified with 4 points. Now, the Red-Blacks await their opponent in the knockout stage.
The game
Flamengo started the match valuing possession, exchanging passes from foot to foot in search of space to build plays. Despite Flamengo's strong start, the home side opened the scoring in the eighth minute. After a corner, the ball remained live in the box, and Matheus Magallanes took the final touch: 1-0.
After falling behind, the red-and-black team attempted offensive plays but struggled to find a shot on goal. XV de Jaú, on the other hand, closed up in defense and waited for opportunities to counterattack. In the 26th minute, the home team was left with ten men down after Caio received his second yellow card. In the 34th minute, Felipe Lima received the ball in the box and attempted a shot, but the ball hit the defense and went out for a corner.
In the final minutes of the first half, the Ninho Boys grew into the game and threatened the XV goal. And the pressure paid off! In the 39th minute, Jean Carlos, from the middle of the field, took a shot and the ball went into the left corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance: 1-1. The teams went into halftime with the score tied.
Just like in the first half, Flamengo started the second half with complete control of possession, dominating the game's attacking play. In the 10th minute, Dudu stretched the ball to Felipe Lima along the byline, who backheeled it back to Rodriguinho. The striker's shot was off-balance, and the goalkeeper made the save.
In the 16th minute, Mengão turned the game around! Felipe Lima tried a shot from outside the box, but the ball deflected and fell perfectly to Rodriguinho, who struck hard and scored the second goal for the red-blacks: 1-2.
With one more and an advantage on the scoreboard, the Garotos do Ninho knew how to manage the result well and left the field with the victory and qualification for the next stage of the Copinha.
