Diego Santos has been called up to the national team for the UEFA Development Tournament.
Garoto do Ninho, captain of the state champion U-15 team, will compete in a tournament in England with the 2003 generation Brazilian team.
By Ian Sena - inJust like in the U-17 category, the Brazilian National Team, made up of athletes born in 2003, also has a representative from Flamengo. Defender and captain of Flamengo's U-15 team, the current state champion, Diego Santos, "Garoto do Ninho," was called up by coach Dudu Patettuci for the UEFA Development Tournament, a quadrangular tournament that will be played starting on the 17th in England. The tournament will feature Norway and France, in addition to the hosts and Brazil.

"I feel incredibly happy. This is my sixth call-up, but it will be my first trip abroad with the Brazilian National Team. It will be a unique opportunity in my life to gain knowledge, as I will interact with athletes from other states, countries, and different cultures, which will certainly help in my development. I am incredibly grateful to Flamengo, the institution that welcomed me when I was just nine years old and that continues to contribute to my growth, and to all the club's professionals, who prepared me for this special moment," said Diego, concluding: "I want to work even harder to seek future call-ups."
The objective of this call-up, in parallel with the preparation for the South American U-17 Championship, is to give international experience to players who are a year younger, in the case of the 2003 generation, especially in high-level confrontations, such as the UEFA Development Tournament. The delegation's presentation for the start of training is scheduled for next Saturday (9), at Granja Comary. The team leaves for England on February 13, and will face France on the 17th, Norway on the 19th, and England on the 21st.
