The biggest champion of the Octávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament, with nine titles, Flamengo's under-20 team starts on October 13, against Audax, the journey in search of the tenth title of the competition. After a draw held at the FERJ headquarters, last Tuesday (04), the schedule and groups of the competition were defined. Teams from the Carioca Series A and B1 participate in the tournament.Flamengo, Fluminense, Vasco, and Botafogo are the seeded teams. 

Flamengo, nicknamed "O Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved), leads Group A, which is composed of Carapebus, Audax, and Nova Iguaçu. Group B consists of Vasco, America, Boavista, and Bangu. Group C includes Botafogo, Duque de Caxias, Olaria, and Tigres. Finally, Group D is made up of Fluminense, Madureira, Serra Macaense, and Sampaio Correa.

In the first phase, the teams will play each other within their groups in a single round-robin format. The teams that finish first and second in each group advance to the second phase. In the second phase, two groups of four teams each will be formed, playing each other in a double round-robin format. The teams that finish first in each group qualify for the third phase. In the third phase (final), the teams will face each other in a two-legged tie.

The OPG will be played between October and November, and the Flamengo youth team will have to divide their attention with the Brazilian Championship in their category. Flamengo is well on its way to qualifying for the semifinals and, who knows, could end the year with two more titles, increasing their total from four to six titles won in 2018.
