On Wednesday morning (17), at Gávea Stadium, Flamengo beat Nova Iguaçu in the 4th round of the Guanabara Under-20 Cup, which was delayed due to the Intercontinental Cup game. From a penalty, Iago scored the only goal of the match and guaranteed 3 more points for Mengão in the competition, which now has 13 points in the table.

The game

In the first minute of the game, Flamengo came up the left with Gusttavo, who crossed and Douglas Telles shot over the defense. Shortly after, in the 5th minute, Mengão came up with another attempt: Pedro Leão shot wide after a cross from Daniel Sales.

At 8, in another arrival by Daniel Sales on the right, the full-back performed a beautiful dribble on the opposing defender and finished for the goalkeeper to save.

The Ninho Boys managed to control the action and Nova Iguaçu rarely reached Leo Nannetti's goal and so the game unfolded: Flamengo arrived, but the goal was missing. 

In the 49th minute, as the game was heading towards half-time, a left-footed shot from Douglas Telles went just wide of the opposing goalkeeper's post, almost opening the scoring for Flamengo.

In the second half, Nova Iguaçu started trying to balance the actions, but Flamengo managed to regain control of the match and prevent the opponent from creating any danger. In the 30th minute, Daniel Sales advanced down the right and was brought down in the box, and the referee awarded a penalty to Mengão. Captain Iago went for the ball and fired it past the goalkeeper.

Flamengo controlled their advantage and the number 3's goal was the only one of the game, giving the final score to the match.
