In the first leg of the Copa Rio Sub-17 semifinals, Flamengo drew 0-0 with Fluminense on Saturday morning (10), in Gávea. The teams will face each other again next Saturday (17) to decide who will qualify for the tournament final. The team from Laranjeiras will have the advantage of the draw because they had a better campaign.
The game
The derby started off fiercely contested, with both teams looking to attack. Fluminense pressured the red-and-black team's possession, making it difficult for them to transition into attack. In the 17th minute, defender JP cleared a ball on the line, preventing the tricolor team from opening the scoring.
Little by little, the Ninho Boys grew into the match and began to maintain possession in the attacking half for longer. In the 29th minute, goalkeeper Lucas Furtado shone, saving a penalty awarded by the referee. Ten minutes later, Adriel made a fine individual move, entered the box, and shot. The ball flew past the goalkeeper's right post. With few chances created, the first half ended 0-0.
In the second half, the game remained evenly matched, with intense competition for possession. In the 16th minute, Gustavo Gonçalo came down the left and crossed into the box. Lucas Matheus headed the ball, but it went to the goalkeeper.
The "Mais Querido" (Flamengo's Favorite) continued to attack, pressing for a goal. In the 30th minute, Marquinhos unleashed a beautiful shot from outside the box, forcing the Tricolor goalkeeper to stretch to make the save. In the final minutes, Fla pressed their opponents and narrowly missed out on the winning goal. The derby ended 0-0.
