In the first leg of the Carioca Sub-20 quarter-finals, Flamengo drew 1-1 with Madureira on Wednesday morning (25), in Conselheiro Galvão. The goal for the Garotos do Ninho was scored by Daniel Cabral. Now, Mais Querido will define the qualification for the semi-finals playing at Gávea and will have the advantage of a draw due to having had a better campaign in the Taça Guanabara.  

The game
Flamengo started the match maintaining possession in the attacking half. But it was Madureira who opened the scoring with Douglas Cunha in the seventh minute: 1-0. The Flamengo youth team went in search of an equalizer and continued exchanging passes in the attacking midfield, looking for spaces to penetrate the Madureira defense.

At 23 minutes, Lázaro made a good run down the right flank and shot hard. The goalkeeper made the save, and on the rebound, André's shot was saved by the Madureira goalkeeper. Following that, Werton made a good run down the left flank and shot across goal. The ball went just wide of the post.

After much persistence, Flamengo managed to equalize in the first half! In the 34th minute, Lázaro received the ball inside the area and delivered a beautiful backheel pass to Daniel Cabral, who shot into the goalkeeper's right corner: 1-1. Flamengo still created a good chance with Lázaro, but Guilherme Cabo managed to make the save.

At the start of the second half, Werton made an individual play down the left side of the penalty area, was brought down, but the referee waved play on. Flamengo had ample possession of the ball and pressured Madureira in search of a comeback. In the 28th minute, Thiaguinho made a good run down the left side of the penalty area and shot over the goal.

At 34 minutes, Lucas André took a shot from midfield, forcing Guilherme Cabo to make a good save, putting it out for a corner. The Flamengo youth team searched for the winning goal until the last minute, but left the field with a draw, leaving the qualification to be decided in the return leg at Gávea.

Next appointment
Flamengo returns to the field for the competition next Wednesday (1) to face Madureira again, at 10 am, at Gávea, for the second leg of the quarter-finals.
